Description

I've been so excited to start this breed by now :la: I reeaallyyy hope you guys like it! :D
Mostly inspired on Supernatural!

THE SAQUINE

Age: Saquines can be hundreds, thousands years old but they are mortal. However, they won't die of old age, ever. They can die of severe injuries, illness, or when an angel loses its grace for too long, ... but not of old age.

Disciplines: They can do pretty much everything you want, as long as you train them for it. Ofcourse every individual horse will prefer something else.

Height: They can be from 1m60 up to 2m.

Build: There are two types of build; warmblood and draft. The drafts often look like gypsy vanners, with a lot of feathering. lakeridgegypsy.com/images/Gyps… www.asnclassifieds.com/images/…

Eyes: They can be any color (blue, brown, purple, orange,..) except for white, yellow, red and black (see later on why). They even can have mixed eyes; up to 3 different colors per eye. Two different eyes are also possible.

Accessoires: Accessoires are very common. They’re something special belonging to the horse, and they wear it at all times. (necklaces, feathers, … even masks) Imports often come without accessoires, leaving that part up to the first owner. ONLY the first owner is allowed to design the horse's accessoires, whether it is an import or a newborn foal.

Origins: The origins of this breed are unknown, but Rosenhill Farms staff is trying to find it. The biggest question is whether there are more types than the two we know now..

COLORS

:bulletblack: Natural
:bulletblack: Cn: partly unnatural
:bulletblack: Sn: all fantasy

Natural - Saquines are generally very colorful. Tobianos, overos, etc but also brindles, chimeras, .. are seen often! Zebras/zorses are common too, known under the genes nZe/ZeZe. As long as the stripes are naturally colored, these zebras belong to the ‘natural’ category – if the stripes are pink or something, they’re Cn (or Sn).
Cn: partly unnatural - This means that there is a natural coat, together with some unnatural markings. They can be stripes, symbols, etc .. they can also appear as a sort of chimera. At least 3/4 should be natural colored.
Sn: all fantasy - No natural colors are seen on the horse – so for example the horse can be completely blue with some purple markings on it. White and black are exceptions, so they can still be seen of Sn horses, but no other natural colors are allowed. The horse still has a natural coat underneath it though. It’ll never show, but is necessary – if the horse breeds and the foal is not Sn, you need a natural geno.

The group uses this standards and they MUST be followed. We allow breeders to pick their own geno for the natural coat, this are the only restrictions we put on it so please respect them.

nCn x natural = natural
CnCn x natural = nCn
nCn x nCn = nCn
CnCn x nCn = CnCn
CnCn x CnCn = CnCn
(replace with Sc for the same result)

nCn x nSc = natural or nCn
nCn x ScSc = nSc
CnCn x nSc = nCn
CnCn x ScSc = nCn or nSc

Tbh I really don’t care if genes work this way or not so you don’t need to correct me.

TYPES

:bulletblue: :bulletblue: ANGEL :bulletblue: :bulletblue:
:bulletblack: Angels have wings, but normally they don’t show. The horse has to actually ‘activate’ them in order to be visible to others, but they are always there – just not visible or touchable. To fly they have to make their wings visible.
:bulletblack: All angels wear a necklace which people call their grace – as far as it’s known, this is not their grace, but it looks alike so it grew into a habit to call it that. It can have any color, but only one, and is always in the same little glass bottle. It gives a little bit of light. They always wear it, from their birth off. If they lose it (they won’t lose it simply because. Trainings or whatever won’t make them lose it, only severe fights with other horses etc) they become extremely ill. If they don’t get it back in 35 days, they die. There’s no replacement, new grace, anything that can help them etc. Only getting their original grace back.
What it looks like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGK6uK…

:bulletred: :bulletred: DEMON :bulletred: :bulletred:
:bulletblack: Demons have a larger mouth- it goes to their cheek. The teeth are slightly sharpened, but not extremely. They also have a snake-ish tongue, which can have any color. This ‘feature’ is not extremely dangerous (ofcourse they can bite you and you’ll bleed etc, but they don’t have special powers or whatever), but it usually scares people. Some horses are aware of that and just love it to creep people out…
:bulletblack: Demons can eat/live on meat. It’s the owner’s decision whether you’ll feed them meat or not, though horses often have a strong preference – some really like meat, some don’t want it. Most owners like to give meat in little pieces, as a treat instead of peppermint and such, but feed them like normal horses. Demons living purely on meat can become very strong, in which case the owner has to know how to handle these animals.
:bulletblack: Demons usually have their normal eyes, but have specific demon eyes. They only show when the horse wants to show it though. This is why white, yellow, red and black are not allowed on normal horse’s eyes – it would be confusing whether it’s the horses normal eye color or their inner demon showing itself.

The demon eye colors – highest to lowest rank:
- White-eyed demons - ”The demon chiefs of staff”
- Yellow-eyed demons - ”The demon army generals”
- Red-eyed demons - ”The demon deal-makers”
- Black-eyed demons - ”The soldiers, thugs, henchmen, minions”

Black-eyed demons are most common; the others are with lot less and special. Currently, there are no other color eyed demons caught; they are stronger and so harder to catch. Once the RF staff succeeds to catch such a demon, there will be more information about them. So far, it’s a pretty undiscovered part of this breed, just like their origins.

:new: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: WITCHES :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :new:
:bulletblack: Witches have pupil less eyes. Just like demons and angels they can have 2 differently colored eyes, but each eye itself can only be 1 color. Contrary to demons and angels, white, yellow, red and black are allowed eye colors for witches.
:bulletblack: Witches often wear a hat, but this isn't necessary - some prefer not to. Hats are unique to every horse and can be any shape, color, etc.
:bulletblack: Witches can have horns (like unicorns), up to 4 max, in any color, shape and length. Foals are born with just a very little horn, to not hurt their mother ofcourse. After their birth it'll start to grow, and each foal will need a different time for that. Some horses won't have their full horn(s) until the age of 10, while some might already have it before they reach 1 year.
:bulletblack: Witches can be of any origin, it's up to the owner to decide their history.

:bulletblack: It is common for witches to have 1 animal with them. Only small animals like a bird, snake, cat, etc - sometimes a wolf, and that's the maximum. The animal can teleport, is bound to his/her witch, and they can communicate through their minds. Witches use them for company, advice and help (for example bring them ingredients for a spell). The animals are always loyal to their witch and do not communicate with anyone else, so a human will never be able to become friends with it. They also are capable of making themselves invisible for everyone besides their witch. Witches and their animals don't need to be together all the time; it's the witch's preference how often he/she wants their animal by their side.
Not all witches have an animal. If they do have one, it's with them since their birth - they can't get one at a later point in their life. The animal doesn't age, can't get hurt and only dies when the witch dies. It doesn't necessarily need to be named, but if wanted it can have a name. If a witch has an animal, it should be drawn on the witch's reference image.
The animal can be a fantasy creature as well, as long as it doesn't exceed the size of wolf.

:bulletblack: Witches can't shapeshift or master an element, but all are capable of performing rituals and spells. Ofcourse not every witch is as good/has as much experience/knowledge. Other Saquines don't have the power to make spells work at all. Every witch gains more knowledge throughout their life (logically a newborn foal won't be able to do a very complicated spell). However, black magic is something different! To be able to use black magic, the horse will have to learn it from another witch who already knows black magic. How does this work? It's pretty simple - you'll have to find someone who already owns a black magic witch and ask if their horse can teach yours. If they agree, you'll have to draw a full body (shading not necessary) with background image of both horses, preferably in a dark setting (forest, abandoned building, ...). The black magic witch will teach your horse the basics, so later on your horse can gain more knowledge throughout its life. Be creative with what you draw; the black magic witch will show how to do different spells, curses and rituals.
After this 'teaching ritual' your horse is classified as a black magic witch - send a note to the group with the drawing you made to get your witch officialy approved. However, before your horse can teach others himself, you'll need to make one more drawing showing the horse performing a spell/curse/ritual, to show they really got the trick and know what they're doing. This can be a sketchy headshot though, as long as it's colored.
But! Every witch has only 10 spots available to teach other horses, to keep the amount of black magic witches a bit under control. However if the witch reaches Elite rank, he/she gets another 10 teaching spots.
There is an amount of starter black magic witches - logically, there have to be some to teach the first other witches. These starters are the only ones to be born that way - bred foals can't be born with black magic knowledge, even if they come from 5 generations of black magic witches for example.

POWERS

When a horse reaches the Elite rank, they get extra powers. Demons have this in them, by angels this is powered by their grace (which means that when they lose it, they also lose their powers). There are 2 powers.

Shapeshifter - The horse can now shapeshift into a human, a wolf, an owl and 1 animal of your choosing, including dragons. So far it’s possible, the markings stay on their other form as well. Angels still wear their grace in their other forms as well.

Elementalist - The horse can now specialize in 1 element. It can be anything; water, earth, fire, wind, but also other things: poison, lightning, ice, … They can do anything you come up with, as long as it fits the element. If you’re not sure whether an element is allowed, just send the group a note! We don’t bite.

:bulletblack: Shapeshifters usually get the trick quickly, but elementalists need time. First of all, they still need to discover their element! It’s never know up front, so when the time comes, the horse needs to experiment what works best for him. Once he found its element, they still need to train to use it properly. A horse that just became an elementalist can’t do extraordinary stuff from the first time!

:bulletblack: Whether the horse is destined to be a shapeshifter or an elementalist is known from the birth. So when you send in your foal design, in the description you need to mention which one it is. This is completely unrelated to the parents, so even if the foal has a whole family of shapeshifters, it can still become an elementalist. But don’t forget, this just activates when the horse reaches the Elite rank!

BREEDING

:bulletblack: Each horse has 10 breeding slots.
:bulletblack: After reaching the Elite rank, horses get +10 new breeding slots.
:bulletblack: Twins are possible; an admin will run a random number to decide this.
:bulletblack: At the moment angel x demon, angel x witch, or demon x witch breedings are not accepted! Only demon x demon, angel x angel and witch x witch. More info about this crossings will come later.

YET TO DISCOVER…

There’s still a LOT undiscovered about this breed! When Rosenhill Farm finds its origins, many things will be known, but for now…?

What do we still have to discover?
:bulletblack: Archangels!
:bulletblack: Red-, yellow- and white-eyed demons
:bulletblack: Do the types above have a 3rd power?
:bulletblack: Angel x demon breedings
:bulletblack: Are there more types than demons and angels? (witches and more...)
:bulletblack: Who knows what more we’ll find on our path…

Watch or join the group to stay updated on RF’s discoveries!
