Class - Show Jumping

Ez wasn't himself today. Usually very vocal, he was quiet. April had prepared herself for the usual rodeo-session as warm-up, but this time it was just a couple little bucks. It was very clear he felt a bit intimidated by his surroundings. "He sure is easy today, huh?" Amy hung over the warm-up arena fence, next to the big stallion. April was pulling off his blanket and tightening the girth in a corner of the arena. "Yeah, he isn't used to this kind of.. thing, and it's his first show as well. He has the right to be a little unsettled." April handed Amy, today playing groom, the blanket. "Yes, but I thought he would be extra explosive because of that, not easier. Looks like he isn't really that big bad boy he thinks he is." Amy grinned. "Well, that's not so surprising again, is it.. Have you seen him with little kids? Such a cutie then." As if he could understand them, Ez threw his head up and took a couple steps forward - let's get working now, huh? April laughed. "Okay then, looks like he's ready for action." She collected her reins and went forward in a easy trot. Amy climbed over the fence and entered the arena, to set up a small vertical for them.
After a short but effective warm-up, they were ready to enter the ring. Ez wasn't too sure about that at first, but after some encouraging words he walked onto the glass, his head low, looking at the strange blue light under his hooves. After a couple steps he jumped into an active trot, lifting his legs dramatically high and snorting loudly - what was this sorcery?! With a grin April saluted the judges, and the bell rang. April took use of the 45 seconds before crossing the starting line to canter around the arena, Ez still being very impressed by everything. Once they approached the first jump, the stallion could focus better, even though it was still a very strang thing for him. That's also why he couldn't help but keep snorting every now and then at the glowy arena and jumps, but he still had his jumping skills April loved so much.
